Huawei is rolling out a new update to Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 users globally, bringing a handful of additional sports-focused features to the running-oriented smartwatch. The device has always been built around athletic use, and this update adds a few more practical tools to its existing lineup.
The Watch GT Runner 2 made its global debut in February at Huawei’s “Now Is Your Run” event, and a Racing Legend variant with select enhancements followed shortly after. Now the standard model is receiving a new firmware update tagged with HarmonyOS 6.0.0.155, weighing in at 36.8MB.
The headline addition is a new automatic workout pause that triggers the moment a user hits their set goal. To activate it, Auto-Pause needs to be enabled within the Goal Reach settings. It’s a small but useful quality-of-life feature for runners who want the watch to handle transitions without manual input.

Training record management also gets easier. A simple left swipe now deletes individual training sessions directly from the watch, removing the need to dig through menus. Additionally, the update introduces support for RAI — Running Ability Index — which surfaces more precise training data following each run, giving athletes a clearer picture of their performance over time.
Beyond the new additions, Huawei has also applied optimizations to certain UI elements and improved system stability in specific scenarios. The full changelog is below.
New Features
- Adds the feature to automatically pause a workout when you reach your goal. To use this feature, you must enable Auto-Pause on Goal Reach.
- Allows you to swipe left to delete an individual training recording.
- Supports the display of your individual RAI after a run in the training records.
Optimizations
- Optimizes the display of certain user interfaces.
- Optimizes system stability for specific scenarios.
