A new leak suggests the Huawei Nova 17 series could launch next month with a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto camera, and a Kirin 8 series chip.

The Huawei Nova 17 series is expected to debut next month, according to recent leaks. While the sub-flagship lineup is in development, Weibo leaker DigitalChatStation reported details regarding its camera specifications, display sizes, and Kirin processor.
The report states that the Huawei Nova 17 series is testing a new 200MP ultra-large main camera sensor. This primary shooter will likely use the GCB0H5 sensor from GalaxyCore (Chinese name: Geko Micro), a major supplier of CMOS imaging sensors for smartphones. The GCB0H5 is a recent creation featuring a 200MP 1/1.56-inch high-resolution sensor. The new main camera will improve light intake and deliver high-resolution images with balanced highlights and shadows. The Infinix Note 70 series is also rumored to use this same main camera sensor with OIS capabilities, suggesting the Nova 17 series could be the next smartphone to adopt it.

Alongside the primary camera, the Nova 17 phones will reportedly use a 50MP 1/2.5-inch telephoto sensor (SC5000CS) supplied by SmartSens. It supports SFCPixel-SL tech and low-noise circuit layouts to reduce noise and provide cleaner night shots. The Nova 17 series may also use a new-generation multispectral sensor. For comparison, the Nova 16 Pro and Ultra feature a 200MP RYYB ultra-large sensor, while the base model has a 50MP lens.
Beyond the imaging hardware, the Nova 17 series is evaluating two screen sizes. The first is a 6.68-inch display, probably for the base versions, and the second measures 6.84 inches, which may appear on high-end variants like the Pro and Ultra. Both screens support 1.5K resolution and deliver an immersive viewing experience.
On the processing side, the tipster suggests a Kirin 8 series processor for the new Nova smartphones. Although the official name remains a secret, it is unclear whether Huawei will use an optimized chip or introduce a new Kirin 8 mobile SoC.
