The Huawei Nova 17 Air is beginning to take shape in leaks, with the latest report pointing to a possible debut window of late November or early December this year. If accurate, it would mark the first Airy-branded model in the Nova lineup.

Weibo leaker SuperDimensional reported that the Huawei Nova 17 Air, also referred to as the Nova Air, is currently in development and likely to launch sometime around November or December. The new Airy phone could take over the role previously held by the flagship Mate lineup this year, arriving with a set of notable spec upgrades.

Huawei already kicked off its 2026 Nova lineup with the Nova 16, launched earlier this month. The company is reportedly now working on the follow-up series — the Nova 17.

Should Huawei stick to last year’s release pattern, the Nova 17 series could arrive as soon as December. It remains unclear, however, whether the Air variant will launch as part of that same series, get its own dedicated event, or arrive with a quieter, unannounced debut.

The Nova 17 Air is expected to lean into a compact form factor, potentially positioning itself as Huawei’s widest non-folding phone to date, paired with a relatively small 6.39-inch OLED display.

According to the leak, the camera setup includes a 50MP triple rear array with a multispectral sensor. Additional specifications are expected to surface as more details emerge.

Huawei introduced its first Air-branded device last year with the Mate 70 Air — a 6.6mm-thin phone that stood out for packing the largest battery capacity among ultra-thin smartphones at the time. Rather than mirroring Apple’s approach to slim phone design, Huawei opted for its own distinct camera layout.

It appears the company may be taking a different design direction for this next-generation Air device as well. More details on the ultra-slim Nova handset are expected to continue surfacing in the coming weeks.
