Google’s Scam Detection could be coming to Xiaomi phones, teardown suggests

Google’s Scam Detection feature could be coming to Xiaomi phones next, according to a new APK teardown by Android Authority. The AI-powered scam-call warning tool debuted first on Pixel devices, has since expanded to Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series, and has shown signs of heading to vivo phones as well, and Android Authority now says it’s found evidence pointing to Xiaomi as the next Android manufacturer in line.

Digging through the latest public beta of the Google Phone app, version 237.0.973536915, Android Authority found evidence of Scam Detection coming to Xiaomi phones, and reported that Xiaomi’s name has also been added to the app’s list of supported phone makers.

Which Xiaomi phones will get the feature first remains unclear. The recently unveiled Xiaomi 18 Fold, which debuted at IFA 2026, would seem like a natural first candidate, but since that phone is currently only confirmed for China, Android Authority said Scam Detection will likely land first on a globally available Xiaomi flagship instead.

Scam Detection works by analyzing phone calls using on-device AI, and can theoretically warn users if it detects any shady business on the line. Android Authority has previously found the feature isn’t perfect while still in beta, though it says the tool could still prove helpful once Google irons out its remaining kinks.

Android Authority said it will keep watching the Google Phone app for signs of other manufacturers being added to the list and will share updates as they emerge. As with any APK teardown, this finding is based on work-in-progress code found inside an unreleased beta, meaning the feature could ultimately not make it to a public release.
