Samsung is retiring two of its longest-running AR apps for Galaxy phones. Galaxy Store listings confirm Quick Measure and AR Doodle will shut down on December 31, 2026, with Samsung saying both tools will return later in improved form.

Quick Measure lets a phone’s camera estimate real-world distances, while AR Doodle lets users sketch virtual drawings onto physical locations through the camera app. Both have been available on Galaxy devices for years as part of Samsung’s AR software lineup.

What the shutdown means for users

According to the Galaxy Store notices, new downloads of both apps will stop at the December 31 cutoff, and Samsung will no longer issue updates. Existing installations won’t be removed immediately, but some features may stop working correctly as future OS updates roll out without matching app support. Samsung also appears to have already hidden both listings on the latest version of One UI, making them invisible in the Galaxy Store even though the apps remain live until year’s end.

Samsung’s official statement

“Please be advised that service for the Quick measure app is scheduled to be terminated on 31 December 2026,” Samsung says in the Galaxy Store listing. “After this date, new downloads and update support for the existing app will be discontinued. You may continue to use the app if it is already downloaded, but please be aware that some features may not function properly.”

“Additionally, compatibility support for the Quick measure app will no longer be provided for future OS updates,” the company adds. “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank all our customers for their loyal use of the Quick measure app. We are committed to returning with improved services in the future.”

Samsung hasn’t said when the replacement apps might arrive.
