Xiaomi has started rolling out stable Android 17 to the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and Xiaomi 17T Pro, packaged under the HyperOS 3 label.
A Confusing Label, But a Real Platform Jump
The HyperOS 3 branding is the same one Xiaomi already used for its Android 16 rollout, which makes the naming a bit misleading. Underneath, though, this is a genuine jump to Android 17, and it puts the Xiaomi 17 lineup among the first phone families anywhere to reach stable status on the new platform this year. Google wrapped up its own stable Android 17 rollout across the Pixel lineup back in mid-June, pushing it all the way down to the older Pixel 6, while most other Android manufacturers are still stuck in beta testing months into the release cycle.
Rollout Details and Affected Devices
A reader based in India reported receiving the update on their Xiaomi 17, arriving as firmware version 3.0.331.0.XPCINXM.C10 with a security patch dated June 5. The rollout doesn’t appear limited to India either, with reports suggesting it’s also reaching Xiaomi 17 series devices in Europe and other regions.
The larger Xiaomi 17 Ultra is receiving the same build, keeping Xiaomi’s two current flagship phones on matching software versions. The Xiaomi 17T Pro has also been included in this wave, which is notable since mid-cycle T-series phones typically fall behind the numbered flagship line when it comes to major platform updates.
Update Rollout Inconsistencies
The standard Xiaomi 17T, on the other hand, hasn’t yet been confirmed as receiving Android 17, creating a clear gap in update timing within the same device family. Adding to the confusion, the update reportedly appeared to one recipient as a routine security patch rather than a full platform upgrade. That description didn’t quite match reality, though, given a download size of 7.2GB, well beyond what a typical monthly patch would require and more in line with a complete OS overhaul. Owners of the Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra, and 17T Pro who get prompted to install what looks like a routine security update are advised to check the release notes carefully before assuming it’s a minor patch.
