WhatsApp is finally addressing one of the biggest gaps in its web client, as WhatsApp Web now supports audio and video calls. This requires no download or installation, since it’s built directly into WhatsApp Web, which has also picked up support for screen sharing, reactions, and a dedicated Calls tab showing full call history and favorites.
Encrypted Calls With No Limits, Now Transferable Between Devices

As with every other part of WhatsApp, calls made through WhatsApp Web are end-to-end encrypted, with no time limits or associated costs. Users can now also move a call from one device to another without hanging up and starting a new one. This works across the mobile app, WhatsApp Web, and WhatsApp Desktop in either direction.
New Call Controls and Quality Improvements
Additionally, when someone creates a WhatsApp call link and selects “Require approval to join,” participants will wait in a holding room until approved to join. Noise suppression is also launching, removing background noise so callers sound clearer, and it can be managed directly from the in-call settings.
Finally, video calls will now start in HD quality from the very first few seconds, eliminating the wait for HD to kick in that was previously common. According to WhatsApp, all of these features are rolling out “gradually” and will become available to everyone “soon.”
