A recent WhatsApp Android beta includes an unreleased message scheduling option that lets users prepare messages and media attachments up to two weeks ahead. The tool reportedly supports encrypted individual and group chats, delivering queued messages even when the sender's device is offline at the scheduled delivery time.
Signs of upcoming WhatsApp message scheduling have reportedly surfaced in WhatsApp Android beta build 2.26.40.7. Interface previews from the test version confirm that the tool operates as expected, allowing users to compose messages in advance and send them later. While the function remains in development and has not yet rolled out broadly, the underlying code indicates that Meta is actively preparing the addition for its user base.
Activating the feature relies on a direct tap-and-hold action on the send button. Once a draft is ready, holding down the send icon opens the schedule message window. From that popup, users select the specific delivery date and time. The message will be delivered at the configured hour even if the sender has no active internet connection when that delivery moment arrives.
The scheduling tool supports normal text, links, photos, and video files. The functionality operates across individual chats and group conversations, remaining fully compatible with WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption. According to the interface limits revealed in the beta build, the earliest possible scheduling window is 10 minutes from the current time, with a maximum planning range extending up to two weeks in advance.

Message scheduling has been in development for an extended period and ranks among the most requested features on WhatsApp. Its absence sparked ongoing discussion on platforms like Reddit, where one user joked about having to hire a gnome to send scheduled messages on time while they continued working. The omission felt especially notable because parent company Meta added message scheduling to Instagram in 2025.
Most competing messaging apps already offer scheduled delivery. Telegram, another major competitor, has included the capability for a long time. While WhatsApp serves as a primary messaging client on devices like the Pixel 10, the reviewer noted switching to Google Messages specifically to schedule birthday and anniversary wishes to friends. Composing a greeting whenever convenient and scheduling it for 12:00 a.m. ensures delivery occurs while the sender is sleeping comfortably in bed. With rivals like Google Messages and Telegram supporting the feature for years, bringing scheduled messages to WhatsApp finally addresses an overdue request for Android users.
