Firmware testing suggests OnePlus may release the OnePlus 16 outside China, with software builds spotted for India and global regions. However, an official international rollout is unconfirmed, and OnePlus is unlikely to return to the US or European markets.
A OnePlus 16 global launch may be underway following new software discoveries. Tipster Abhishek Yadav revealed that OnePlus is actively testing international and Indian firmware builds for the device across three distinct model numbers: CPH2901, CPH2903, and CPH2905. According to Yadav, an international release remains unconfirmed, and the internal software builds could simply represent early technical preparations. Even so, the presence of localized software builds gives international buyers reason for optimism.
Any broader rollout faces strict geographical limits. OnePlus pulled out of both the United States and Europe, which means customers in those territories will almost certainly miss out on an official release even if the company expands distribution. India represents a much more probable destination. The company maintains active operations there today, though industry reports suggest the brand might consider exiting that market within the next few years.

The phone carries demanding hardware specifications. At the front, it uses a flat 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO OLED screen capable of hitting 165Hz across the user interface and reaching 185Hz in supported gaming titles. Computing power comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. Buyers can configure the device with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of built-in storage. In China, where the phone is currently sold, base pricing begins at CNY 5,999, which converts to approximately $900 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage edition.
Battery capacity provides another significant selling point. OnePlus installed a 9,000mAh battery cell, an increase over the 7,300mAh pack inside the previous OnePlus 15. Charging options include 100W wired speeds, 50W wireless delivery, and 27W reverse wired charging for powering external accessories. That large power reservoir surpasses what competing flagships offer. By comparison, Samsung’s rumored Galaxy S27 Ultra is only expected to receive its first notable battery increase in several years.
The camera setup is similarly ambitious. The rear housing holds an optically stabilized 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide shooter, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. On the front, OnePlus added a 50MP selfie camera. That front-facing sensor delivers higher resolution than the 42MP camera found on Google’s Pixel 11 Pro XL.

Beyond the flagship model, Yadav spotted an unreleased device designated as PYP110 on a company high-refresh gaming list. That particular phone runs games at 185Hz. Yadav believes this device will debut as the OnePlus 16R, which places it separately from the brand’s forthcoming OnePlus Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro models.
The lack of North American retail distribution leaves an obvious gap for shoppers. Combining a 9,000mAh battery with Qualcomm’s top-tier silicon for roughly $900 represents an aggressive price-to-performance combination, especially as rumors suggest Samsung could raise prices on the Galaxy S27 family. For now, American consumers seeking flagship devices must rely on alternatives officially distributed in the United States.
