Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) Android 17 rollout has begun for unlocked AT&T models, reportedly adding TikTok and reactivating Moto AI ahead of Android 18.
Motorola has started rolling out the Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) Android 17 update to users in the United States. The device served as the brand’s flagship clamshell throughout 2025. In April, Motorola released the Razr Ultra (2026) and introduced the Razr Fold, moving the 2025 version out of the primary flagship position. Even with newer hardware on store shelves, the 2025 model remains an immensely powerful phone, and the fresh software package makes the device more compelling. Motorola took several months to deliver the upgrade, but owners can now install the build as distribution begins.
Initial word of the release surfaced on Reddit, where an owner reported receiving the software on an unlocked AT&T handset. Other users replied that their units had not yet received an update prompt. That difference indicates Motorola is conducting a limited, phased rollout. Staged distribution suggests a wider release will likely follow soon as availability expands to more carriers and regions.
The Reddit user noticed two unexpected changes after the installation finished. The update installed TikTok as a preloaded application on the device. It also reactivated Moto AI, a feature the owner had deliberately switched off. Major operating system updates often restore factory default applications and pre-installed tools. That behavior can surprise owners who previously adjusted their device settings, yet it is a common occurrence during major Android version transitions.
Google initiated the Android 17 cycle in June 2026 by sending the update to its Pixel lineup. In August, Motorola announced plans to bring Android 17 to 50 smartphones across its catalog. The manufacturer started fulfilling that promise in September, issuing builds to Motorola Razr, Edge, and Signature series hardware. With newer lines updated, Motorola has now turned its attention to previous-generation flagships.
The 2025 Razr Ultra has more software support scheduled ahead. Motorola originally pledged three major Android OS updates for the handset. Because this release represents the second major platform update, Android 18 will likely serve as its final major operating system upgrade. Motorola also promised bi-monthly security updates through 2028, scheduled to arrive every two months to keep the hardware protected.
