Samsung’s September 2026 security update bulletin leaves out two of its older smartwatches: the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, effectively marking the end of software support for both devices going forward.
Samsung had promised the Galaxy Watch 4 series four generations of Wear OS upgrades, and delivered on that promise: Wear OS 3.5/One UI Watch 4.5, Wear OS 4/One UI 5 Watch, Wear OS 5/One UI 6 Watch, and finally Wear OS 6/One UI 8 Watch.
Security updates have also come to an end for the two watches. The August 2026 patch, which rolled out last month, turned out to be the final one for both models, and no further updates are expected for the rest of their lives.
That doesn’t mean the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic will stop working – Samsung says the devices will continue to function normally. They simply won’t receive new features or fixes for any vulnerabilities discovered going forward.
Anyone still using a Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 4 Classic may want to consider upgrading. Samsung’s newer Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 come with a revised update policy that promises five years of One UI Watch and security updates.
