Samsung has begun releasing its stable One UI 9 update based on Android 17 to eight budget and mid-range phones, led by initial rollouts for the Galaxy M47 in India and the Galaxy A26 in the Philippines.

Samsung has started distributing its stable One UI 9 update based on Android 17 to a broad selection of mid-range and budget smartphones. The deployment covers eight devices in total, led by the Galaxy M47 and Galaxy A26 alongside the Galaxy A55, Galaxy A35, Galaxy A17 5G, Galaxy A16, Galaxy M16, and Galaxy A07. This release brings redesigned quick settings panels and revised privacy indicators alongside updated multitasking tools to lower-priced Galaxy hardware across several global markets.
The initial wave focuses on the Galaxy M47 and Galaxy A26. In India, the Galaxy M47 is receiving firmware version M476BXXU3BZJ1 as a download measuring roughly 2.2GB. That package bundles interface adjustments with system performance enhancements. Meanwhile, Galaxy A26 owners in the Philippines are getting build A266BXXUCDZJ6. Samsung moved the A26 straight to the finalized software without running a public beta test first.
Samsung also pushed the Android 17 upgrade to six other models across Asia and Europe: the Galaxy A55, Galaxy A35, Galaxy A17 5G, Galaxy A16, Galaxy M16, and Galaxy A07. Regional availability continues to expand beyond the first release territories as network carriers and local divisions approve the software builds.

The One UI 9 update introduces several practical interface adjustments for everyday use. In the Quick Panel, users can rearrange and resize controls for display brightness, audio volume, and media playback. Sound profiles can operate independently from primary volume sliders, making it simpler to mute alerts quickly. For personal security, an Instant Quick Lock mode lets owners press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons together. Doing so disables fingerprint and facial recognition until someone enters the device PIN or password.
Privacy tracking and daily monitoring also receive notable revisions. An active location badge appears in the status bar whenever a background app requests geographic coordinates. In Samsung Health, the main dashboard displays updated metric cards, clearer historical trend charts, and a direct mood logging tool. Users needing visual assistance can turn on Text Spotlight, an accessibility option that magnifies selected words on the screen without zooming the entire display.
Owners of compatible Galaxy handsets can check for the software manually through the system settings. The update process involves four basic steps:
Deployment schedules and security patch distributions vary by carrier and country, so availability on individual handsets depends on regional approval.
