OnePlus has started releasing the stable Android 17-based Color OS 17 update to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 ahead of its scheduled October 29 timeline. The rollout is deploying in stages, beginning with open beta participants before reaching broader retail units.

OnePlus has started rolling out the stable Color OS 17 update to its flagship OnePlus 15 ahead of schedule, beating the company’s planned October 29 timeline. Stable builds are already reaching retail hardware following a short open beta testing run. The rollout also delivers the new software to the OnePlus Pad 4, making both products part of the opening deployment phase. Beyond arriving early, this release represents the first official rebranding transition from Oxygen OS to Color OS on OnePlus hardware, aligning with the wider Color OS 17 schedule for OnePlus and realme.

Confirmation of the arrival comes from an official OnePlus Community announcement as well as retail owner posts on Reddit. Reports show that the stable build is appearing on the OnePlus 15 under model number CPH2745. Owners who participated in the open beta program appear to be the earliest group receiving the over-the-air package, transferring their handsets from preview code to the finished build. OnePlus has organized the software delivery in incremental batches, an approach standard for major Android releases across the OPPO ecosystem.
Because of this staggered distribution method, only a modest fraction of users will detect an automated update notification immediately. OnePlus plans to expand global access over the coming days once initial field results confirm the firmware runs smoothly on customer devices. Eligible owners who prefer not to wait for an alert can inspect update status manually. On supported OnePlus devices, that requires going to Settings, opening About device, and selecting Color OS to check whether the download is ready.

Color OS 17 combines interface updates with low-level tuning built on Android 17. The visual refresh introduces reworked fluid animations alongside an updated quick-settings panel. Users also gain expanded controls for interface personalization. Underneath the interface, the release adds modernized privacy controls alongside revised background process management. Those background optimizations aim to conserve battery life and improve efficiency on top-tier OnePlus hardware during daily use.
Following the rollout for the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4, several other phones in the brand’s lineup are queued for the upgrade. Community announcements place the OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, and OnePlus 13s next in line to receive the Android 17 build. While firm launch windows for those additional handsets have not been published, we at Droid Tools will watch for signs of whether their official releases also jump ahead of original schedules.
