A leak suggests the Huawei Pura 90 Plus will feature a 50MP 1-inch RYYB camera, variable aperture, a flat 1.5K display, and a periscope macro lens.

Huawei launched its Pura 90 smartphone series just a few months ago, but fresh leaks suggest an unannounced model is already in the pipeline. According to leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the company is preparing a new variant called the Huawei Pura 90 Plus. The upcoming handset aims to bring flagship photography hardware to more buyers without replacing existing models in the current series. Releasing a Plus edition mid-cycle allows Huawei to offer premium imaging gear from the top-tier Pro Max at a potentially more reasonable price.

The primary rear camera module is the focal point of the leak. Digital Chat Station reports that the phone will pack a 50MP 1-inch sensor paired with a physical variable aperture mechanism. Huawei uses its custom RYYB subpixel structure for this primary shooter. The design replaces traditional green subpixels with yellow ones. Because yellow subpixels absorb far more light, the sensor can produce clean, sharp images even in dark environments.
Alongside that large primary sensor, the camera array reportedly includes a compact periscope telephoto lens with macro shooting capabilities. This addition allows photographers to capture close-up subjects as well as distant scenes. Leakers expect the combination of versatile macro zoom and strong internal image processing to deliver dependable camera performance across different shooting scenarios.

The device carries the internal codename Lucia. On the back, it retains the signature triangular camera bump in the upper-left corner of the rear glass. Up front, the phone reportedly features a flat 6.8-inch display with a 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Huawei reportedly plans to offer four color options for this model: Obsidian Black, Snow White, Morning Gold, and Sunset Purple. The source summary also mentions Sunshine Purple, introducing slight uncertainty regarding the final marketing name.
Under the hood, exact processor details remain a bit of a mystery among leakers. Earlier rumors point to either a Kirin 9030S or a newer Kirin 9035 chipset. Huawei has not confirmed which silicon will run the phone. Releasing a Plus variant mid-cycle lets the company keep the Pura line fresh while giving mobile photographers a compelling middle option.
