Google Wallet for Android is rolling out an in-app notifications feed and expanding digital passport support to Ireland and Italy. The new countries are not widely available yet, while the notifications feed continues to reach users through a server-side update.

Following its stacked card list redesign, Google Wallet for Android is adding a notifications feed alongside expanded digital passport support. Users can access the feed through a bell icon next to the profile switcher in the top-right corner of the home screen. Tapping the icon opens a feed with “updates about items in Wallet.” The feature follows Google’s earlier announcement of an “in-app message center in Google Wallet,” which continues to arrive through a server-side update.

Google Wallet is also expanding support for digital passports, officially called an ID pass in the app. Usage varies by country, with US passports accepted at TSA security checkpoints through NFC or QR code scanning. The feature previously covered Brazil, Singapore, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Early reports indicate that Ireland and Italy are beginning to appear, though the new countries are not widely rolled out yet.
To add a passport, users tap the plus floating action button at the bottom of Google Wallet, open IDs & personal info, and select ID pass. The registration process involves scanning the passport info page and security chip. Users must then record a video of their face. Google Wallet delivers a notification once verification is complete.
