Samsung may launch the Galaxy S27 series as early as January, according to supply rumors. While component selections are reportedly nearing completion, potential memory upgrades and disputed Qualcomm processor heating concerns could still influence production schedules and pricing.

Samsung is nearing the final stages of planning for its next flagship smartphone lineup. Recent supply reports indicate that the company has locked in several core hardware choices and could schedule the Galaxy S27 launch earlier in the year than its immediate predecessors. The manufacturer is currently transitioning into production schedule management, an operational step that suggests factory assembly could begin in the coming months.
Details regarding the prospective release calendar come from tipster Lanzuk, posting under the account yeux1122 on the Korean micro-blogging platform Naver. According to that account, Samsung targets a January release window, which would place the arrival ahead of the timetable seen over the past few generations. Lanzuk noted that if unforeseen delays emerge, the rollout could slip into “February at the latest.”

Samsung has reportedly selected the hardware components for the standard Galaxy S27 and the larger Galaxy S27 Plus. However, the bill of materials for the premium Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra models remains unsettled. The company is evaluating upgraded memory configurations, specifically newer LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage standards. While these advanced modules offer performance gains, adopting them would raise manufacturing expenses against a backdrop of steep industry-wide memory pricing.
Those mounting component costs create financial pressure on retail pricing. Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Samsung asked its parts suppliers to scale back shipments by up to 30 percent, choosing to assemble fewer devices to avoid selling hardware at an operating loss. The brand took direct pricing action recently by increasing Galaxy S26 prices in South Korea and the United States to protect margins.

Beyond memory constraints, Samsung faces potential complications during pre-production testing for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Leaks suggest that evaluations encountered thermal throttling and heating problems with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. If unresolved, those thermal difficulties could prompt Samsung to equip the Ultra variant with its own Exynos 2700 processor in select markets. For its part, Qualcomm has repeatedly contested these claims since they appeared, firmly denying that its silicon experiences overheating issues.
How Samsung balances component costs and supplier production volumes will determine final retail pricing. We at Droid Tools will monitor developments as Samsung advances toward mass production of the Galaxy S27.
