Google has officially released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7 (build CP41.260831.016), delivering essential bug fixes to Pixel owners across several generations. The release builds on patches that arrived earlier in Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6 and in incremental builds such as Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1.
Testing on newer Android development tracks continues at the same time, but this QPR2 release is narrowly aimed at high-priority bugs that have hurt day-to-day performance for beta testers. It is rolling out over the air (OTA) to eligible devices, from the Pixel 6a up to the newest Pixel 11 series.

Beta 7 skips big interface changes and concentrates on stability, resolving two major problems logged in Google’s official issue tracker.
Idle battery drain. Beta testers repeatedly reported sudden background battery loss while their phones sat unused in idle mode. Google traced it to a deep sleep conflict involving system features, which kept devices from resting properly. As a result, CPU cores stayed active in the background and drained power overnight or whenever the phone was idle. Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7 resolves that conflict and restores normal standby battery performance.
HTTPS download failures. The update also corrects a widespread networking bug in which files requested over HTTPS failed immediately when started through Android’s built-in download management systems. People saving documents, media, or web attachments from native browsers and third-party apps saw connections drop instantly. The underlying protocol handling has been patched, so HTTPS downloads work normally again.
| Device range | Primary issues fixed | Known / unresolved issues |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 6a through Pixel 11 | Idle battery drain from deep sleep glitches; instant HTTPS file download failures | General minor beta bugs under tracking |
| Pixel 11 Pro Fold | Idle battery drain fix applied; HTTPS download fix applied | Face Unlock re-enrollment required: users may need to re-register facial recognition for proper function |
Although the update helps battery life and connectivity, one key problem is still on Google’s radar. The company acknowledged that owners of the flagship Pixel 11 Pro Fold may still run into trouble when re-registering or using Face Unlock.
If facial recognition fails or keeps prompting setup errors on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, the advice is to use the standard PIN, pattern, or fingerprint authentication until a full patch arrives in a later update.
Pixel owners enrolled in the official Google Android Beta Program will receive the OTA update automatically. You can also check manually by going to:
Settings > System > System update > Check for update
Anyone who prefers a clean installation can download full factory images and OTA zip files for build CP41.260831.016 from the official Android Developer portal. Back up important data before installing any system beta build.
